Mr. drs. Martijn Hoving has been a lawyer and insolvency practitioner since 1998. After studying Business Administration at the University of Groningen and gaining several years of work experience in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and France, the “legal blood” proved stronger than expected. While working, he studied Law at the Universities of Amsterdam and Leiden. Martijn has always regarded the combination of Business Administration and Law as a major advantage. Both in his work as a court-appointed trustee in bankruptcies and in guiding entrepreneurs through acquisitions and partnerships. His ability to translate business risks and interests into clear contracts makes him a strong sparring partner for entrepreneurs. His knack for quickly understanding financial figures enables him to act swiftly when companies face difficulties.

Martijn grew up in Enschede and returns after a 27-year career at his previous firm in Leiden. For him, the timing feels natural: Martijn became a partner at a relatively young age at the medium-sized firm where he worked and also served several years as managing partner. Later he chose more freedom and took on various additional roles, including until recently Acting Dean of the Bar Association in The Hague. After completing his term on the local Bar board, it was time for a new adventure in the region he has always loved.

Inheritance Law

In recent years Martijn has broadened his practice with inheritance law. At first glance this may not seem directly related to his work as a corporate lawyer and insolvency practitioner, but to him the step feels very natural: “The settlement of an estate is essentially a project in which a set of rights and obligations must be resolved on legal, fiscal and financial levels, comparable to a bankruptcy or business acquisition. The difference is that far more emotional aspects typically play a role. I used to avoid those, but now I handle them well.” In this field Martijn also follows somewhat in the footsteps of his father, who as a notary spent the final phase of his career almost exclusively on inheritance matters.

Martijn Hoving is registered in the Areas of Law Register of the Dutch Bar Association for the following main (and sub) areas of law:

Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten educational credits per calendar year for each registered area of law, in accordance with the standards of the Dutch Bar Association.
